Pope Paul VI to Parents
A Prayer for Young People
- by Pope John Paul the Great
O Lord Jesus Christ,
keep these young people in your love. Let them hear your voice and believe
what you say, for you alone have the words of life.
Teach them how to profess their faith, bestow their love, and impart their hope to others.
Make them convincing witnesses to your Gospel in a world so much in need of your saving grace.
Make them the new people of the Beatitudes, that they may be the salt of the earth and the light of
the world at the beginning of the Third Christian Millennium!
Mary, Mother of the Church, protect and guide these young men and women of the twenty-first
century. Keep us all close to your maternal heart. Amen."

Apparitions of Our Lady of Good Help at Robinsonville Wisconsin
Sister Pauline LaPlant, friend and the eventual successor to Adele Brise, was one
of the many students Adele taught catechism to. Sister Pauline shared these
recollections of Sister Adele’s caring manner of religious instruction:
“I remember as a child, she would come with her little band of children to Bay
Settlement, kneel at the foot of Our Lady’s altar, and sing hymns with them
in French. Adele had a sweet voice and possessed a charm that drew the young
to her. I would kneel behind her with a burning desire to follow her.'
“So many times, we would gather around Adele and have her tell us of the
apparitions of our Blessed Mother. She would always tell us in the selfsame
way how she saw her twice without Our Lady saying a word, but that the third
time, she spoke to her and gave her the message of instructing the children
in their religion, lest they should lose their faith.”
According to Sister Pauline, to whom Adele often told her story, Our Lady
commissioned Adele to catechize, saying to her:
“Gather the children in this wild country and teach them what they should
know for salvation."
"But how shall I teach them who know so little myself?" replied Adele.
“Teach them their catechism, how to sign
themselves with the sign of the Cross, and how to approach the sacraments;
that is what I wish you to do. Go and fear nothing. I will help you."

Pope Paul VI to Parents
"Mothers, do you teach
your children the Christian prayers? Do you prepare them in conjunction with
the priests, for the sacraments that they receive when they are young:
Confession, Communion and Confirmation? Do you encourage them when they are
sick to think of Christ suffering to invoke the aid of the Blessed Virgin
and the saints? Do you say the family rosary together? And you, fathers, do
you pray with your children, with the whole domestic community - at least
sometimes? Your example of honesty in thought and action, joined to some
common prayer, is a lesson for life, an act of worship of singular value. In
this way you bring peace to your homes: Pax huic domui. Remember, it is thus
that you build up the Church."
